Antarctic Adventure and Prehistory - his account of travelling through Antarctica on a 700km deep field sledging journey in search of fossils. Along the way he encountered 4 close shaves with death from crevasses and avalanches, as told in his gripping book 'Mountains of Madness- A Journey Through Antarctica'. Tim Flannery described his book as “a splendid account of a heroic contemporary expedition to Antarctica”.

Ancient Australia – John has spent his life since the age of 7 uncovering Australia’s prehistoric secrets. His books cover everything from fishes, amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs and mammals, and his expeditionary adventures include finding skeletons of ancient megafauna in caves on the Nullarbor Plain, dinosaurs and marine reptiles in the remote outback of Western Australia, and the world’s best preserved fish fossils from the wilds of the Kimberley.

Engaging Kids in Science – John is the author of some 10 childrens' books, including fiction and non-fiction. He pioneered the 'stealth science' novel which gives children a healthy dose of cutting edge science disguised in an rollicking adventure story. His non-fiction series starting with the multi-award winning 'The Big Picture Book', aims to engage children on issues of climate change and the history of human ideas.

The Four Corners: A Scientific Philosophy of LIfe – having balanced being a full-time scientist, martial arts instructor, single part-time father of three children, whilst authoring several books, John epitomises a very busy but highly productive and happy life. He explains his methods and techniques for maximising his efficiency in everything he does, embodying a personal philosophy of life he calls the ‘four corners of the circle’ that he developed after surviving near death experiences in the wilds of Antarctica.

Climate Change for kids and parents – His new book 'The Big Picture Book of the Environment' (out 2008) breaks down the complexity of understanding global warming in a simple but engaging style. Climate change is an issue he is passionate about and embodies in his daily life style. His book aims to dispel myths, provide the hard facts on the issues, and empower children to take control of the future of their planet.
