Barry Crocker, awarded an "Order of Australia" in 1987 for services to the Australian entertainment industry and to charity, is one of the greats of Australian entertainment.
Barry was the star lead in two classic Australian movies that have become ground breaking icons of Australian cinema, "The Adventures of Barry McKenzie" and "Barry McKenzie Holds His Own." Other notable movie appearances include "Razzle Dazzle" and "Muriel's Wedding"
Concert performances include a four week season at MGM Grand Hotel, in Las Vegas; Sahara Hotel, Lake Tahoe; The Village Barn and The Bonsoir, New York; Talk of the Town and Palace Theatre, London. Barry participated in a concert for UNICEF at the UN Headquarters, New York with Dame Sutherland and Richard Bonynge, directed by Sir Robert Helpmann. He appeared live across America from Las Vegas in three Jerry Lewis Telethons alongside Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and other legends.
Theatre Performances have included the lead role as Jerry Ryan in "See Saw" in America with Michelle Lee and Tommy Tune; male lead in "Scapino" (JC Williams); lead role in "Mother's Day (Social Security)" with June Salter and Katy Manning; one man show tribute to Banjo Paterson, "Barry Crocker's Banjo;" the role of Frank in "Educating Rita" with Katy Manning; the "narrator" in the "Rocky Horror Show" in Star City Sydney, and star in the Australian musical '"Eureka." From 2005-2007, Barry travelled throughout Australia and New Zealand, playing the role of Lazer Wolfe in Topol's "Fiddler on the Roof."
His television career includes the "Barry Crocker Show," Network Ten for two years; host of "Barry Crocker's Sound of Music," Nine Network for two years; compere of "Saturday Variety" on British television; host of two Eurovision television specials for BBC Television; guest star on Britain's "Harry Secombe Show" and "Stars on Sunday." Barry was also host for six years on "Carols in the Domain" with Seven Network.
His milestone of achievements in life have been earmarked with numerous awards: four Logies, including the Gold Logie for Most Popular TV Personality in 1969; two Entertainer of the Year Awards; four "Mo" Awards; one "Sammy" and a "Penguin," and thirty-three Gold Records.
